Welcome to Wildish Ways
Hello! My name is Brittany. I’m glad you’re here.
I’m a yoga teacher, holistic wellness facilitator, and mother based in Bellingham, WA. When I’m not busy getting feisty about women’s wellness and dismantling diet culture, you can find me chasing around my rowdy toddler Hudson, baby Lucy in tow with my husband Robin by my side.
A little more about me:
Sharing a bite outside with my people is my happy place.
Joyful movement for me these days looks like yoga, Melissa Wood Health, walks, and Peloton rides.
I just bought my first mountain bike at 35 years old and am excited to have a new way to enjoy the trails and build community.
“The hardest thing in the world is to simplify your life. It’s so easy to make it complex. What’s important is leading an examined life.” – Yvon, Chouinard, Founder of Patagonia
My Journey to Health and Purpose
I’ve always loved running around outside and eating amazing meals, but it wasn’t always pretty. As a preteen, I developed an eating disorder that I would battle for over a decade and experienced debilitating anxiety. After college I struggled to find my place in the world. I tried on countless jobs in politics, environmental non-profits, and startups, but continued to feel lost and frustrated. Not to mention crippled by stomach aches, anxious, sleepless and overwhelmed by negative self-talk.
Finally, in 2016, after being let down once again by what I thought was my dream job after grad school I decided enough was enough. I knew in my gut that I needed to try something dramatically different, but wasn’t sure how to move beyond the 9-5 career path I assumed I would lead for the rest of my life. I decided to take a chance and sign up for my first yoga teacher training. At the end of the training I was offered a teaching internship. It was just two-classes a week at minimum wage, but I knew I couldn’t pass it up. I quit my marketing job and never looked back. Since then I have fallen deeper in love with teaching yoga and explored wellness coaching, both of which have made my childhood dreams of being a teacher come true in a magical way.
When Covid-19 hit, my work shifted, evolved, and paused on repeat. I learned how to be a mom (still learning), gave birth to my second child, and spent a lot of time re-examining what’s possible or even desirable when it comes to wellness on an individual and community level. I’m still figuring out what this next chapter looks like for me as I navigate work and motherhood during this tumultuous and beautiful time in the world. My love of yoga and joyful movement as a catalyst for change has remained strong and I couldn’t be more excited to get back to teaching classes and workshops in person. See you on the mat!
